Shikhar Dhawan Hands India Big Boost Ahead Of West Indies Tour

Just days ahead of squad announcement for the tour of West Indies, India star Shikhar Dhawan has handed the team-management a big boost.  The opening batsman had suffered a thumb injury during the World Cup that also brought a premature end to his journey in the tournament. He had sustained the injury during the match against Australia when a Pat Cummins bouncer hit him on his thumb.
Shikhar Dhawan had gone on to score a sublime ton in the 36-run win over the world champions but didn’t come out to field. He had scans on his left thumb in Leeds and although the report was not very promising, the team-management kept him under observation. However, a few days later he was replaced by Rishabh Pant in the team.

In his absence, KL Rahul opened the innings and did fairly well, scoring two fifties and a ton. At first it looked like Shikhar Dhawan would miss the trip to the Caribbeans. However, the southpaw seemed to recover as he batted for the first time since sustaining the injury last month.
India will travel to the Caribbeans to play three T20s, two Tests and three ODIs. The tour will begin with the T20 series on 3rd August, followed by the ODI and the Test series. Dhawan looks set to be on the flight to the Caribbeans. As per reports, India are unlikely to rest the big names for the tour.
